Do They Migrate?

These birds are non-migratory or partially migratory depending on their geographic location. Northern populations of the Eastern Towhee are migratory; southern populations are year-round residents. The California Towhees are year-round residents.

What Foods Do They Eat?

The like to eat sunflower chips, oil sunflower, Bark Butter®, millet, peanut pieces, suet dough, and cracked corn.

Where Do They Nest?

These birds nest on ground or in bushes, and will not use a nest box.

What Do They Look Like?

The male and female are very similar with the female being paler with no seasonal plumage changes. Juveniles overall brown with streaking.
