When I checked Hummingbird Central’s Spring 2024 Migration Map on Sunday, hummingbirds had begun to be seen as far north as Maryland. Wednesday’s map shows them being seen as far north as southern New Jersey and Pennsylvania! As long as we don’t have any major storms and wind, it won’t be long until we see them here in Massachusetts!
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are the only hummingbird species that breeds in the eastern United States and these are the birds we see here in Massachusetts. You can track their migration here https://www.hummingbirdcentral.com/hummingbird-migration-spring-2024-map.htm
You can also use the link to report sightings. If you open up the tracker and click on the hummingbird icons, the location of the sighting comes up along with any specific information like time of day, male or female hummingbird, etc.
This is so exciting!
