Purple Finch

Purple Finch

The female Purple Finch is heavily striped, brown, and looks sparrow like. The male Purple Finch is more of a rose color. They eat the buds of trees, insects, and seeds. They will come to seed feeders, and thistle tubes. They are seen in woods, groves and sometimes, suburbs. They are thought to have declined in number due to the introduction of the house sparrow and possibly because of competition with the House Finch.
